I’ve definitely fallen into the trap of thinking success was linear.
“Follow these steps, work hard and achieve your goal.”
I applied this thinking to my career, sporting endeavours, my planning and when I’ve tried to learn something new of build a new habit.
When I look back now, though, I can see the reality was very different. I’m not talking about this in the definiton of success, but rather goals I’ve achieved professionally and personally.
What I’ve learned:
- It really is the ability to simply keep going
- Be curious
- Recognise there are good days and bad days
- Try to focus on the day to day process rather the end “outcome”
- Accept and recognise that you will make mistakes. That’s where the learning is
- Be kind to yourself
- Run your own race
What else would you add to this list?
